How Much Does the LSAT Matter?

Personal opinion time: after my first class in law school, I believe that, aside from getting accepted into law school and receiving scholarships, the LSAT does absolutely nothing for you and does not even lend a clue as to how you will do in law school. It’s a test to weed out students who don’t do well under pressure, cannot work/read quickly, and aren’t good at test taking. Vice versa: kids who receive excellent LSAT scores may not be the best students in law school and may even drop out! 

What you read and learn in law class does not relate at all to what you read or learned when studying for the LSAT. Law school finals and the LSAT are not in the least bit similar. Even the test layouts are different. The key to LSAT success? Learn the tricks, take the practice tests, and pace yourself. After the LSAT? Forget everything you learned and focus on preparing for law school!
